Ancient Wheat Trials in the Hengistbury Head Garden
Our wildlife gardeners have been doing a lot of research over the last two or three years about ancient crops and plants that our ancestors would once have grown on Hengistbury Head. The gardeners created a trial plot for these crops, including Darnel and Flax, in a corner of the garden between the 'foxes' bench and the compost heaps.
As well as all the practical work they have carried out, one of the gardeners has put together a tremendous amount of information about this subject, as well as documenting the work the volunteers have done. Just click on the different headings below to find out more about this fascinating project.
