All walks/events start from the Visitor Centre. Booking is essential. Please note, our events are now booked through the Eventbrite website. To find an event, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/ and then search the title of the event.
The Poetry of Spring
Tuesday 29th April, 11am to 1pm
A gentle stroll looking for spring wildlife and enjoying lots of spring poems. £8 per person including light refreshments.
Introduction to Ancient Textiles
Sat 3rd May, 10am to 3pm
Join us for a journey into the world of ancient textiles as used by our prehistoric ancestors on Hengistbury Head. Create clothing, textiles from plant fibres, sheep's wool, and natural dyes from our site. £13.50 per person.
Bird Song and Breakfast
Saturday 10th May, 5.30am to 8.30am
We will be listening for the songs of resident birds and spring migrants on this popular annual event. Followed by optional breakfast at Hiker Cafe at 8.30am. £7 per person for the walk. The breakfast is £9.50 per person, payable at Hiker Cafe.
Nature Journaling Workshop
Tuesday 20th May, 2pm to 4pm
Tips and advice on sketching and painting flora and fauna. Includes a short walk to do some art outside if the weather allows. £16.50 including refreshments.
Bird Song for Beginners
Friday 23rd May, 8.30am to 11.30am
An ideal session for anyone wanting to learn to identify the songs of common birds. We will take a walk and then return to the visitor centre for refreshments and to listen to the songs we have heard. £12 per person.
Nature Journalling Workshop
Tuesday 17th June, 2pm to 4pm

Nightjar Walk
Thursday 19th June, 9am to 11pm
We will walk up on to the top of Hengistbury Head to look and listen for Nightjars. They have a unique song, a strange 'churring', and are active at dusk and dawn. There have been at least a couple of pairs at Hengistbury Head for the last few years so we hope to find and hear one tonight. £8 per person.
