In our upstairs gallery in the Visitor Centre. The exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 4pm, and 5pm at weekends in June; and until 5pm daily in July.

 

Spring Events

Guided Nature Walks and Events

All walks/events start from the Visitor Centre. Booking is essential  -  please phone the Visitor Centre on 01202 128444.

  

Friday 14th June, 10.30am to 12.30pm

The Folklore of Nature

Find out what Bunbarrels and Peewits are, what you should say if you see one Magpie, and lots more on this nature folklore walk. £6.50 per person including a hot drink and a biscuit or two!

 

Tuesday 18th June, 2pm to 4pm

Nature Journaling

Join Lorraine and Sally for helpful tips on how to sketch flora and fauna. Bring your own sketch pad and materials if you have them, but some materials can also be provided. £12 per person, including a cup of tea or coffee.

 

Saturday 29th June, 7am to 9.30am

Early Morning Nature Walk

An early morning stroll to look for the flora and fauna of early summer. £7 per person including a hot drink and a pain au chocolat.

 

Tuesday 9th July, 2pm to 4pm

Nature Journaling

Join Lorraine and Sally for another session with help and advice on how to sketch the nature that you see on your walks. Bring your own sketch pad and materials if you have them, but some materials can also be provided. £12 per person, including a cup of tea or coffee.

 

Thursday 11th July, 11am to 1pm

Butterflies and Bugs   

A gentle stroll looking for insects of all kinds. We hope to see butterflies, some day-flying moths, dragonflies, damselflies, beetles and more. £5 per person.

 

Thursday 25th July, 10.30am to 12.30pm

Wild Flower Walk

A walk with one of our rangers, identifying wild flowers on the nature reserve, and hearing some of the fascinating folklore associated with them. £6.50 per person including a hot drink and a biscuit at the end of the walk.

The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast

A summer poetry walk with charming poetry from this beautifully illustrated book by William Plomer and Alan Aldridge. £6.50 per person including refreshments after the walk.

 

Thursday 29th August, 6.30pm to 8.30pm (approx.)

A Walk Through The Solar System

Join us on this special themed walk with a difference. We will be walking on the beach (in the daylight), travelling through a scaled-down solar system. The Sun, each planet, and the distances between them will all be represented on the same scale. With fun and fascinating facts for all ages. £6 per person (£2 for children)

Take a look at our full 'Performing the Past' events programme, where you can take part in events, guided walks and activities showing Hengistbury Head as a scene of settlement and ceremony for more than twelve thousand years.

All walks will start at 10am and last up to 2 hours. These events are free with no need to book. Please note that these are not Council-led walks.
