By bus or by ferry

It's easy to get to Hengistbury Head without your car...

Hengistbury Head is to the eastern end of the county of Dorset, and getting to the head without a car is possible using a combination of the bus, cycling or of course walking.

If you choose to come by bus, you can find your best route information on the More Buse website.  The bus does not currently come right to the Head, but if you disembark at the Broadway shops, it is a short 5 minute walk to the entrance to the site.

You could consider getting off the bus at Tuckton and hopping on the The Boat Service, which starts at Tuckton Tea Gardens and runs down to Mudeford Sandbank, stopping at Wick Ferry and Christchurch Quay.

Travelling by bike, we have a bike station within the courtyard where you can check your tyre pressure and pump them up, plus we have a variety of tools to make sure you're safe and roadworthy. You might want to hire a Beryl Bike or Scooter for your travelling.

You may want to get the bus to Mudeford, and then come across on the Ferry - with either a pleasant walk or the landtrain up to the Visitor Centre.
