Writing Competition 2020

This year was the 6th year of our annual competition, and the lockdown seems to have inspired more people than ever to take part.

This year's writing competition was set during the spring lockdown. We invited people to send in up to three pieces of poerty and or prose/short stories, with the theme of Nature and Me. We chose this theme because many people were turning to nature, or certainly enoying and appreciating nature more, during the lockdown. We were delighted to receive many entries from schools this year, which was fantastic. There were several categories in the competition  -  Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Under 18s, and Adult.

The judges chose some winning pieces, and also some highly commended pieces, from each category. Because we have been unable to have a celebratory event for the competition at the Visitor Centre this year, we have posted the winning and highly commended pieces on our website for all to see. Please click on a category to see the poems and prose in that section.

We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. Well done to all those whose writing was chosen as a winner or highly commended.
