Courtyard

The beautiful carved gates open up to welcome you to our spacious west courtyard - entrance to the Visitor Centre and sheltered from the elements.

With the traditional thatched barn as a backdrop, and the contemporary green-roofed extension providing shelter from the prevailing wind, this courtyard is a lovely spot for welcoming visitors to the site. For visitors arriving by bicycle, we also have cycle racks, a pump and a DIY service station for those last-minute maintenance problems.

Toilets

There are toilets in the courtyard area of the Visitor Centre, including a disabled toilet (no radar key required) and there are also toilets at the Hiker Café and one upstairs in the centre, with lift access.

Space available to hire

Our West Courtyard is available for hire for outdoor events and streetfood catering.

The courtyard boasts a footfall in excess of 200,000 visitors per year. It has accessible toilets, a computer-linked screen for slide shows or promotional videos, and electric hook-up. We work closely with event providers and caterers and can help with promotion and guidance on making the most of the event space and location.
