50th anniversary exhibition

50 years on, the land train is still going from strength to strength. Here's how we're celebrating

We have a few plans underway, to celebrate 50 years of the land train taking generations of passengers between the Hiker Cafe and Mudeford Spit.

30th March 2018 - 5th August 2018

The Hengistbury land train at 50. 50 years of joy, headlines and nostalgia

Come and see our exhibition! There will be photo opportunities in the courtyard, digital displays (you can be part of this - see below!), and many photographs and information from the past 50 years. With help from the relatives of the land train's founders, we're piecing together as much as we can to help paint the picture from 1st April 1968 to the present day.

Share your memories

As part of the exhibition, we're asking you to share your memories with us - new or old! They may even feature in the exhibition. Why not stop by the courtyard and jump into our 'selfie station' to have a picture of you driving the train? Find out how you can upload your photos.

We are creating a small range of souvenirs to celebrate the Golden Jubilee - these will be available from the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre shop, the train office, and other outlets.

A new piece of play equipment

We've commissioned a fabulous new piece of play equipment to keep the little ones entertained whilst they wait for Mallard, Shelduck or Dunlin to come and collect them from the Broadway terminus (by the Hiker Cafe).
