Writing Competition 2020

Hengistbury Head Writing Competition 2020

William Wordsworth was concerned with the effects of the industrial revolution on man's relationship with nature, and he worried that "little can we see in nature that is ours". During this lockdown time of 'stay at home and stay safe', many of us are increasingly appreciating the wonders of the natural world around us, yearning for places we miss, and perhaps reminiscing about places, activities and events linked with nature.

Maybe your current daily walk or outdoor excercise has taken a new and heigtened experience of nature; or perhaps you are gaining new observations and insights from your experiences indoors as you watch, listen and take in the air through your windows.

So, for the 6th annual Hengistbury Head Writing Competition, we invite you to submit poems and stories on the broad theme of 'Nature and Me'. Find out more about the competition rules, and once you have written your piece or pieces, here's the details of how to enter.
