School Visits
Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve provides a special and unique location for education, offering outdoor activities within the heart of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). While we offer guided school visits each year, these get booked up quickly. If there are no spaces available, you are still welcome to come on a self guided tour. Just let the visitor centre staff know if and when a large group may be arriving, to help us manage our visitor numbers.
Classroom
Our 'Discovery Den' classroom is the ideal place to hold your education sessions.
Curriculum-linked sessions
Our education and engagement team can guide your school group through curriculum-linked sessions for KS1-2 designed to inspire learning and engage all learners with the natural world. From river studies to pond dipping, our activities provide a varied and hands-on approach to learning.
Our topics include:
- Habitats
- Coasts
- Rivers
- Prehistory
- Pond dipping
- Minibeasts (April - September)
Arranging your visit
Due to the sensitive nature of the site and to avoid clashing, if you are planning on coming to Hengistbury Head as part of an independent visit please contact the Visitor Centre to inform us of your plans.
